Spoke too soon - snow blitz edition

Not even a week ago, author was highly optimistic regarding the arrival of spring. Alas one can always speak too soon. The snow has been falling heavily. This will be a short entry and possibly the final one.

Driving is extremely precarious in this weather, the snow falls, it gets roughly cleared, melts a bit and then freezes over again. This process repeats day after day. The poor Suzuki is having a real struggle despite the powerful 0.6l engine and winter tyres. There is patches of rough ice which pull the tiny automobile to and fro, it skids along with driver having little to no influence on the direction of the slide. Have at various points been pulled into the opposite side of the road , luckily no incoming trucks or buses but it is surely a matter of time. Walking to work is not really feasible so the Suzuki powers on. The snow is beautiful to watch fall and behold etc in the abstract sense, but the actual dealing with it is not so beautiful. It’s the same as pumping water out of a boat with a hole in it. Clear the snow, have it all fill back in again. Futile but necessary.

Funny incident during the week, one of the younger class groups learning “heads, shoulders, knees and toes”. The teacher starts to speed up the video to make things a bit more exciting etc. As soon as it hits 1.5 speed one student begins to get aggravated. At 1.75 speed visibly enraged. At the point of 2x speed the enraged youth runs to the top of the class, screaming and attempts to launch a stool through the laptop, only to be intercepted by the teacher. Raucous laughter from the room, very entertaining to witness.

That’s it for this week, have some serious surviving to do, not seen snow fall like this for such an extended period before. Fascinating that people chose to stay and live in these places after experiencing a winter. No aircon or anything 🤷‍♂️
